At the beginning of Jesus’ Mission, we read …
Matthew 4:18-19 (NLT)
One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew—throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me.”
Then at the end of Jesus’ Mission before ascending back to heaven, we read …
Matthew 28:16-20 (NIV)
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
The first words Jesus spoke to His disciples were, “Come, follow me.” And the last words Jesus spoke before ascending back to heaven were essentially, “Now go and make followers of me.” That’s what a disciple is.
Putting the two together, then, we have our mission: To follow Jesus and to help others follow Jesus too.
Why is following Jesus personally, passionately and consistently so important to helping others follow Jesus too?
Here at The Way, we break down this Mission like this …
Our Purpose
To follow Jesus and help others follow Jesus too
Our Plan
As you picture your circle of influence (where you live, learn, work and play) …
PRAY - Jesus leads you so others encounter Him
SHOW - Jesus’ character and compassion
TELL - Your story and The Story of Jesus
DISCIPLE - Toward baptism and obedience
GATHER - As family for one another ministry and missional living
REPLICATE - So more and more disciples make disciples and leaders train leaders and MicroChurches start MicroChurches
The mission of a church community is also the mission of each Christ-follower in that community. And so the Way’s Mission is our mission too. Over the next several weeks, then, we’ll be working our way through this Plan. Tomorrow, we’ll look at our circle of influence.

Now, with Your help I will …
